LIBRARY OF MONTECASSINO
Gianni Blasi leads us through the famous library of Montecassino. Here we meet Antonio Venuti who explains the decisive role of the Germans in preserving the library from the bombing. Don Giovanni, a monk of the Abbey who also shows us the immense volume of literary works present in the library, joined us. This place once hosted Napoleon’s troops who tried to burn books to warm themselves during the winter.
GERMAN CEMETERY
The German Cemetery is located in the small town of Caira, just a few kilometers north of Cassino. Gianni Blasi meticulously takes note the details of the semiology of the cemetery’s architectural structure, comparing it to Dante’s Inferno. This cemetery houses the graves of 20,057 Germans killed in the war, most of them in the Battle of Montecassino.

HISTORICUS MUSEUM
Angelo Andreoli and his family have created a museum dedicated to the first special forces, with material gathered directly from the battlefield. All the historical finds have been recovered in the area of Mignano Monte Lungo and in the surrounding areas. RIVER SACK
Near the Sacco River, Gianni Blasi tells us about the horrors experienced by the women of the area in the hands of the French colonials. It was this river that inspired Alberto Moravia when he wrote his novel La Ciociara, a novel which turned into an Oscar-winning film, starring Sofia Loren.

THE KINGSMILL BRIDGE
A monument was erected on the Quick river in honor of the courage shown by Canadian troops in liberating this area.
THE CROSSROAD OF TORRICE
Lawyer and historian Alessandro Campagna tells us about the clash between the Canadians and the Germans at the crossroads of Torrice. In all that chaos, the Canadian troops saved and adopted albeit for a brief period, an Italian child who had recently lost his family. The Canadian soldiers were his caregivers until they found him a welcoming family.

FROSINONE

THE COLLECTION OF ROBERTO MOLLE
Molle, a lawyer and historian, talks about various finds belonging to his private collection now screened at the Edra Palace Hotel in Cassino.
